It's been a long time since the last time I wrote something in this weblog.
Yesterday something horrible happened. The famous Dutch director, Theo van Gogh, was murdered by a radical moslem man. He was known as a free-minded critical person, although he could be very provocative. A lot of programs which included him was played again on TV, one of them was
Wintertijd, a program that invites famous people here to show their expression of music, to tell about their favorite music. One of Theo van Gogh's favorite was
The Carpenters. They played The Carpenters' clip from this song. I've heard The Carpenters before, but not really about their music or stuff. When I heard their song, damn, I was suddenly in love with them! Their music was so soft, simple but ooohh... I just can't describe.
So, thanks to Theo van Gogh, I dedicate this song for him...
Close to you (The Carpenters)
--------------------------------------------
Why do birds
Suddenly appear?
Everytime you are near
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Why do stars
Fall down from the sky?
Everytime you walk by
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
(*) On the day that you were born
The angels got together and decided
To create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue
(**) That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
breaking the MUSIC.
